I was working with another helicopter when this H145 from Civil Security Search and Rescue in the French Alps took off from Chamonix. I was at 3800 meters and it was around -15°, it was quite exceptional to be able to witness this.

Billings Flying Services CH-47 Chinook making numerous runs during the Airport fire in Orange County California. The sunset caused the orange glow of the smoke. This Chinook was working the fire for numerous days. The exact location of this photo was off of Dove Canyon Road. There were a few other aircraft that were getting water from this location as well as the Oso lake. The fire has burned over 23,000 acres and spread int Riverside county. Currently the fire is at 88% containment. The fire started in the Trabuco Canyon area by county workers.
